Ups and downs and all around, a mother and daughters journey is often one that is sometimes hard to navigate, but turns out to be one that impacts you forever. I love reading books about Mom’s and daughter’s especially since the loss of my own Mom. It’s been four years now since my Mom passed, and it doesn’t get any easier. I miss her every single day. My Mom and I had a wonderful and very special relationship, our most trivial times of course were when I was a teen mostly because of my attitude problem. Brooke and her Mom’s story was always at odds it seems, but you couldn’t deny the love her Mom had for Brooke. Brooke wanted her freedom so to say, and her Mom loved spending time with her. I think mostly Brooke wanted time away from her mother’s booze addiction and it was clear that her being an alcoholic was the true nuisance in their relationship which is so sad, because they’re relationship could have been so much better. My take away from the book is that just because your daughter likes to have her space or isn’t as needy or clingy so to say as maybe you would have it, it doesn’t mean she doesn’t love you, it just means that spending all day every day with you isn’t on her top things to do list, but her love for you isn’t any less. For Mom’s that are really maternal from the start, they are just very drawn to their children out of a deep love, and they don’t mean any harm by showing it. For some kids though it can be too much, so It is all about trying to have the right balance, still loving your children well while letting them grow into who God is aspiring for them to be. Love this book. It really was beautifully written. ❤️
