I get so frustrated with lesfic at times. It seems the ones I read never have enough bite to them. The characters are too nice and sweet and ladylike. There's no spiciness in the relationship. No witty banter. Well, this book cured all of those issues I had. I tore through this book in one day after buying it on a complete whim. April and Viv's repertoire with each other was so fun and delicious to read. I was literally highlighting almost all the dialogue exchanged as I died laughing. The sex scenes were actually sexy! And a strap on! They actually used a strap on. I almost never see those in lesfic. And it didn't take over 50% of the book for them to, y'know, actually have sex. No, these ladies have sex. A lot of sex. I was almost worried it would be too much until the author slowed it down at the halfway point. Then we get to watch their relationship develop into an actual relationship, instead of just not friends with benefits. Another thing I loved is that these two talked to each other. There were no silly misunderstandings to forcefully create tension between them. What little problems they did have were solved with communication. Mm sexy. Also I love how the author seemed to be a bit more in touch with internet and meme humor. This is such a minor issue, but some romances I've read seem a bit stiff in this department. I really adored the kid in this, too. A lot of children in books are either written as too immature or too mature and come off sounding unnatural. Mikayla sounded like an actual 8 year old would and some of her dialogue had me in stitches. Especially the lesbian hands comment. This novel was such a treat to read and I'm so glad I bought it. I will definitely be reading more of Raquel De Leon.
